Wildflowers
The wild red roses are pale in the rain,
But beautiful, when the world is somber and gray,
I hold their beauty tightly to my heart,
Here in the rain without the girl that I love.
And I sing to myself in the far distant land,
Of her, the beautiful girl who holds my heart in her hand,
It’s hard, and my blue eyes are gray like the rain,
Which falls cold and sorrowful in this desolate place,
Oh, hear me, my beloved, my heart is broken!
But I will love you truly forever and ever. . .
