I also especially liked the way the author dealt with the cultural differences between various groups. The way each character thought and behaved was completely believable in the context of his or her cultural background. The book also contained a fair amount of political intrigue, although not so complex that it was hard to follow. Although the book is fantasy and takes place in an alternate world, there are actually very few fantasy elements present. For the most part it's a very realistic story.

My only mild criticism is that the book was perhaps a bit on the long side for YA adventure stories, but since it's meant to be part of a series that doesn't matter so much. If you like YA survival/adventure stories, give it a try.

New book coming out next month!

http://williamwoodall.weebly.com/blog/new-book-coming-out-next-month

http://williamwoodall.weebly.com/blog/new-book-coming-out-next-month#comments

Uncategorized

I hadn't expected to have another one done so soon, but it's a fact.Tycho is a science fiction novel set in the year 2154, about a boy named Tycho McGrath and several of his friends who find themselves facing a deadly disease which threatens to wipe out every human being on earth in less than a week. Tycho and 31 other people escape to the partially-terraformed Moon on board an experimental spacecraft, in the hope of taking shelter there until it's safe to return home. But they [...]

I hadn't expected to have another one done so soon, but it's a fact.

Tycho is a science fiction novel set in the year 2154, about a boy named Tycho McGrath and several of his friends who find themselves facing a deadly disease which threatens to wipe out every human being on earth in less than a week.

Tycho and 31 other people escape to the partially-terraformed Moon on board an experimental spacecraft, in the hope of taking shelter there until it's safe to return home. But they end up facing dangers they never anticipated, including horrific storms, deadly radiation, mutant insects, and the betrayal of one of their own people.

I really enjoyed writing Tycho, and even though I had to do a lot of research almost all the science in the book is factual. I'll post again when it's due to be released.

New Review this morning

http://williamwoodall.weebly.com/blog/new-review-this-morning

http://williamwoodall.weebly.com/blog/new-review-this-morning#comments

Uncategorized

I got a really nice review this morning from Anna Rashbrook, who recently read Unclouded Day. This story is still very new and of course you can never be sure what people will think of something till the first comments start to trickle in. Anna's review is the first one I've gotten. Unclouded Day has all those ugly elements about child abuse and alcoholism which might make it a bit on the harsh side for some folks, but it's nice to know that it isn't. Thanks, Anna!
